Best Niche Website Ideas
Getting starting working from home in affiliate marketing can be tough for some people who have a hard time coming up with a web page theme or niche. One thing I have noticed a lot over at Wealthy Affiliate is that people have a hard time deciding on their niche website ideas. So I want to take a moment to help you come up with some of the best niche website ideas that fit you.
Earn Your Success is all about helping you get that home business started so you can someday work for yourself out of your home. I am working hard towards that goal and it looks like my wife and I will soon be able to quit our day jobs and do just that. It has been a long road, a little over a year for us right now as I write this. Might have happened sooner had we been able to put more time into our blogging.
Affiliate marketing has been working for us, and a big part of that is picking a niche for our website that will be successful and easy to build upon.
Best Niche Website Ideas – Brainstorming!
When I was doing my research into blogging and affiliate marketing, I repeatedly found advice from people already doing this type of work, that stated you should only blog about a topic that you are highly interested in. There are a lot of great products out there that you can make money promoting and reviewing on a website, but if you pick one that you don’t have any passion for you are setting yourself up to fail.
I don’t want you to fail at this. So I strongly feel that a large portion of your success will be picking a niche that you have knowledge and passion for. If you cannot actively write about your niche, then you are going to get burnt-out and bored with your website. When that happens you fail. You have to be able to continue to add content to your web page.
The way to start thinking about the best niche website ideas is to start creating a list of all your hobbies and all the things you like to do. Write down as many as you can think of. Try to create a list of at least ten things.
Here is a list of some ideas to help get you thinking:
- Camping (camp stoves, tents, backpacks, camp food, misc gear)
- Music (instruments, sheet music, online music, writing music)
- Movies (movie posters, t-shirts, collectables)
- Books (sci-fi, fiction, non-fiction, Civil War, Old West, biographies)
- Hiking (shoes, backpacks, misc gear, locations)
- Fishing (bait/lures, rods, reels, waders, flotation devices, boats, canoes)
- Gardening (plants, tools)
- Makeup (various makeup lines)
- Jewelry (various jewelry lines)
- Cooking (pots/pans, crock pots, deep fryers, grills, smokers, misc utensils)
- Travel (travel guides, luggage, personal kits, how to, where to, why)
- Baby toys (any and every baby toy, for fun or for learning)
- Yard games (all the various types of family fun yard games)
- Video games (X-box, PlayStation, Nintendo, PC, hand held devices, phone games, kindle games)
- Televisions (any brand, any model)
Those are just some ideas. What are your hobbies? Write them down, as many as you can think of. What do you like to do when you have no other responsibilities going on in your life? Write them down.
The first names on the list above are all fairly broad, but they can be broken down into a tight product niche idea, which are what follows in the brackets.
Once you have a list of at least ten things you can move onto the next part of this post: Make your list now.
What Makes A Good Niche Idea
Some ideas you come up with will be better than others. In order to figure out what makes a good niche you need to think next about a good product or products you could associate with that niche.
When you are a blogger you need to write about your niche, and from time to time you will need to write about a particular product that is associated with that niche. You then link that product to an online retailer. When people buy the product after linking to it from your site, you make a commission.
Some ideas you came up with on your lists are going to be very easy to associate a product with. Some may not be.
As an example, If you play a lot of video games you can write about your favorite game machine, such as an X-box, and where a person can go to get a great deal on buying one. You can also write about what video games you play, and where people can go online to buy them.
Amazon carries all of those things and you can create links to their product pages from your website. That is an easy niche to write about and associate product with.
To be honest, pretty much any idea you can come up with is going to have an item you can blog about and recommend. This is what makes affiliate marketing so easy, and why you can easily start your own business working at home doing it.
Items That Sell For More Vs Less
I know a guy that has a photography niche website. He writes about taking pictures and does a few reviews on some of the hot selling cameras on the market. Cameras are expensive, so when somebody reads his reviews on his web page then goes and buys one he makes a fairly large commission off of a single purchase.
In comparison fingernail polish and other related items are much cheaper than a camera. So when people go and buy such product online from an affiliate site the commissions tend to be smaller.
However, more people are buying cheaper products on a more regular basis than they do more expensive items. So it is possible for a person who is promoting less expensive product to make more overall sales than a person promoting an expensive product, and make just as much money each month of their respective web sites.
So don’t just focus on a niche idea that has expensive items you can promote thinking you will make more income.
Personally I have a couple affiliate web pages. I blog about and promote some less expensive items and some that are close to a thousand dollars. I make about the equal amount of money per month from all of the sites.
Finding the best niche website ideas is as simple as writing down a list of your various interests and hobbies. The thing that makes blogging and working at home so much fun and easy is being able to write about something you love and promote it. That is one of the reasons why I focused this web page towards getting people to become bloggers. But you need to pick niches you know something about and are passionate about.
Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions about finding a good niche to write about.
